Executive Vice President, General Counsel
Lonica Smith is Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Rouse Properties. Ms. Smith joined Rouse in July 2015 and was named to her current position in 2017. Prior to this, Ms. Smith worked at a New York-based law firm, where she represented numerous real estate owners, investors, operators and developers in acquiring, financing and developing dozens of retail, office, multifamily and mixed-use projects throughout the United States. Ms. Smith began her legal career at the Office of the Corporation Counsel for the City of New York, where she represented the City in various real estate transactions, settlements, trials and appellate proceedings. Ms. Smith has taught courses on property law, business law and negotiation at St. John’s University’s Tobin College of Business and has published articles on topics such as transferable development rights and special purpose condominiums. Ms. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah and a Juris Doctor from Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University.
