Rouse Properties Announces the Addition of Zara, The Cheesecake Factory and Yard House to The Shoppes at Carlsbad

New Tenant Announcements Will Continue Through 2017
Carlsbad, Calif. (November 30, 2016) Rouse Properties, one of the country’s largest regional mall owners, is pleased to announce the addition of three national new to market tenants— Zara, The Cheesecake Factory® and Yard House— to The Shoppes at Carlsbad. The center is currently undergoing a multi-phase renovation that includes comprehensive cosmetic upgrades to the two-story, approximately one million square-foot center’s interiors and streetscapes which will be complete at the end of 2017. The dynamic redevelopment will include the addition of new top-tier, first to market retail, dining and entertainment tenants. Owner and operator of The Shoppes at Carlsbad since November 2015, Rouse Properties has plans to curate the tenant merchandise mix to best reflect and serve the needs of the Carlsbad community, neighboring Oceanside and greater North County San Diego.
- Zara, the world’s largest fashion retailer, will occupy a 30,000 square-foot retail space on the center’s lower level near Dave & Busters. The store, the first in North County, will feature Women’s, Children’s and Men’s fashions.
- The Cheesecake Factory, America’s favorite restaurant known for its extensive menu, generous, portions and legendary desserts, will open a restaurant location also on the lower level, across from the new Zara.
- Award-winning dining destination Yard House’s 10,000 square-foot location, featuring a menu of American favorites, crafted cocktails and an endless fleet of taps handles, will be street facing on the second level— adjacent to Regal Cinemas. The restaurant will feature a selection of taps dedicated to local and regional craft brews and original artwork by Orange County-based contemporary artist Jerome Gastaldi, customized to reflect the coastal locale.
The new tenants are slated to open at the end of 2017.

The Shoppes at Carlsbad is currently home to more than 100 retail options, including anchor tenants Macy’s and Regal Cinemas, as well as specialty retailers like Victoria’s Secret, Vans Shoes, 24 Hour Fitness Super Sport, Panera Bread and more. The redevelopment of the center includes the addition of brand-new retail, dining and entertainment tenants, to be announced in the coming months. In addition, current tenants will renovate their existing stores. Recent and upcoming new dining and entertainment tenant openings include The Pizza Press which began to serve its ‘newsworthy’ pizzas and craft beer on November 17 of this year, and the family-friendly entertainment destination Dave & Busters which will open in early 2017.
